Does this sound like your child?

“They struggle to keep up with other kids”
“They’re always the last one picked for sport”
“They get tired really quickly”
“They’re not confident running, jumping or hopping”
“They avoid physical activities”

“Their strength or balance is holding them back”
“They’ve lost fitness after an injury, surgery or hospitalisation”
“They need help getting started at the gym”
“We want them to become more independent with exercise”

If you nodded along to any of these, we can help.

“You may ask.. what exactly is Exercise Physiology?“

Exercise Physiologists use movement and exercise to help children and teenagers build the physical skills they need to participate, play and feel confident in everyday life.

Our Exercise Physiologists look at what your child can do now, what they find difficult, and what they want to be able to do. From there, we create a personalised exercise program that meets them at their current ability and helps them progressively work towards their goals.

Whether your child wants to keep up with their friends, join in with sport, get stronger, improve their fitness or become more independent, we use targeted exercise to help them get there.

Our services include:

Every program is tailored to your child’s goals, abilities, interests and everyday needs. Depending on what your child needs, we may focus on:

  • Building movement skills – developing skills such as walking, running, jumping, hopping, throwing, catching and skipping.
  • Getting stronger – improving the strength needed for everyday activities, play, school and sport.
  • Improving balance and coordination – helping your child move more confidently and efficiently.
  • Building fitness and endurance – helping children participate in physical activities for longer and with greater confidence.
  • Supporting a return to activity – gradually rebuilding strength, fitness and confidence following injury, surgery or illness.
  • Managing health conditions – using exercise to support children living with conditions such as asthma, juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (HSD).
  • Supporting healthy lifestyles – helping children and teenagers develop positive, sustainable habits around movement and physical activity, including where healthy weight management is a goal.

We work closely with families, kinders, schools, other healthcare professionals to ensure a comprehensive approach to your child’s physical well-being.

We work with children and teenagers with a wide range of physical, developmental and health needs.

This may include children who have:

  • Developmental delays
  • Coordination difficulties
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Neurological conditions
  • Hypermobility or connective tissue disorders
  • Reduced strength or fitness
  • Balance or movement difficulties
  • Difficulty running, jumping or hopping
  • Low confidence with sport or physical activity
  • Reduced activity levels or deconditioning
  • Difficulty returning to activity after surgery, injury or hospitalisation
  • Chronic health conditions

Importantly, your child does not need a formal diagnosis to benefit from Exercise Physiology. If you’re concerned about your child’s strength, fitness, movement or participation, we’d be happy to discuss how we can help!
